Happy Wednesday!
I have been wanting to write about my girlfriends for awhile now but I didn't know where to start. I love them all and they are all very special to me, yet they all play a different role in my life. I can't say enough about my dear friend Karen! Whew! She has been there with me through it all! And I mean, "through it all"! I don't think I could have made it as easily without her. And her husband, Joel! I don't want to leave him out either because he has been there to! He also has and will always have that special place in my heart just like my girlfriends! My friend Karen and her husband Joel moved to Albuquerque a few years ago. I miss the lunches we use to have together but we email daily and it still feels like she is right there within reach. Fortunately last November I had the opportunity to fly over there with my friend Denise and visit her. We had such a great time! We all spent a day touring Albuquerque and Santa Fe and it was non stop talking and laughing! I can't wait to see her again! My life wouldn't be the same without her!
I also have my dear friend Colleen! Can you believe we met on a forum on the internet? We were both members of the South Beach diet forum and we were both struggling with our diets. We started talking and our personalities clicked immediately! After meeting on the forum we also started emailing on a daily basis. After two years of emailing daily there wasn't much we didn't know about each other. As it turned out we only lived about 15-20 minutes away from each other. We finally scheduled a lunch date and met in person. I'm not sure how many hours we sat there talking but we never missed a beat! It was like we had known each other all of our lives. To this day we still plan our lunch dates and get together about every 2-3 months. We still haven't run out of things to talk about! But, maybe that's a girl thing. Ha!
And then there is my friend Virginia. We worked for the same company for many, many years. We also emailed daily but our email chit chat consisted of girly talk and the company gossip. You know how it it! There's plenty of office politics going on to give you plenty to talk about all day long! She has moved on in her life and is no longer with the company but we still keep in touch. We still email and text each other and meet for lunch about every 2-3 months. She only lives a few miles away so she is with in reach also.
I can't forget about my dear friend Jenny. She's just a little sweet, short Mexican lady. But Man!! That girl can cook!!! She cooks so darn good that everyone tells her to hide the food when they see "Sharon" coming! :-) She gives me her recipes and I try to cook it like she does but it never turns out like hers. I'll just continue going to her house to eat her food! Ha! In fact, she has tamales waiting for me. I think I'll pick them up Friday for the week-end.
I also love my sweet Cuban friend Olga! She is the one who introduced me to Cuban food. Yes, I always have food on the brain! :-) Before I met Olga I had never tried Cuban food. I soon discovered I LOVE Cuban food! She has taken me to several Cuban restaurants and has shown me how to cook a few Cuban foods like Plantains. Yum! I love plantains! I love the fried ones and the sweet ones! Olga and I also meet every couple of months for our lunches. Once again, its always non stop chatter! But the one thing that always comes to mind when I think of Olga is her thoughtful gifts. When it comes to birthdays and Christmas gifts, she is tops! Her gifts are always so much fun and exciting! She always gives gift bags and they are always full of all kinds of goodies. You never know what you are going to get and that's the fun of it! Its always so much fun looking in that bag! Yep, she's a sweetie!
My friend Denise (who I went to Albuquerque with) lives right around the corner on the next block. She's really handy if I need someone to talk to immediately. :-) Both of our lives have been so busy that I haven't spent much time with her lately but we did meet on the freeway recently. Is a honk and a wave the same thing? :-) When our lives slow down a little bit we'll get caught back up again.
I also have my newest friend Selena. We met last summer when we were camping at a campground near Escondido, CA. My family and her family also clicked immediately. We had so much fun camping that we exchanged information and stayed in touch. We also met up at the end of summer and camped together again. I can't wait for warm weather to get here so we can all go camping again. Its always fun getting to know new friends. And the best part is she lives in San Diego. I love San Diego!! I want to move to San Diego so bad!! So visits to her house will always be enjoyable!
I don't have my friends pictures posted at the moment but as soon as I can get them together you'll see them.
